Glossary
When you start digging into NOA Portal, you'll probably encounter some unfamiliar terms and phrases along the way. To help you on your journey, we've defined some of the most common vocabulary here in this handy cheat sheet.
Admin
Admins have full access to all features of NOA Portal.
Alarming
Send alarms via a channel (e.g. mail or MS Teams) based on detected anomalies or when a threshold is met.
Apps
Apps are software provided as Docker Images to an Edge Device.
Asset Tree
Assets are structured like a tree. An allocated Asset appears below the parent Asset.
Asset Type
Asset Types categorize your Assets, e.g. enterprises, sites or machines.
Assets
Assets are objects of value to a company such as machines, equipment or buildings.
Cloud
The infrastructure of NOA Portal uses Cloud Services. Data sent to NOA Portal is stored in Cloud Storage.
Condition Monitoring
Monitor the condition of your machines by collecting their data using NOA.
Custom Apps
NOA is an open system. You can create your own custom software and deploy it as a Docker Image on NOA Devices.
Dashboard
Dashboards visualize information of an Asset, such as machine data or documents.
Device
Devices are Edge Devices running NOA Core. Apps run on them and send data to NOA Portal.
Dynamic Properties
Key-value properties defined in Asset Types; used e.g. for storing GPS coordinates.
Fleet Management
A use case of NOA Portal. Manage Apps installed on your Devices in the Cloud.
Grafana
Software deployed in NOA Portal for dashboards, alerting, visualization and more.
Header
The Header is present on every page, containing Tenant selection, User Menu and Options Menu.
Hubpage
The Hubpage is the frontpage of NOA Portal and consists of Tiles.
Tiles
Tiles are the interactive boxes on the Hub that redirect to defined pages.
ISA95 Type
These are standard Asset Types.
KEB Communication App
KEB provides NOA Apps for connecting to certain data sources such as OPC UA servers.
Manifest
A JSON file containing configuration parameters for Services and App packages.
Metrics.json
Contains billing-relevant information for Tenants.
NOA Core
The software running on NOA Devices enabling installation of Apps and data transfer.
NOA Portal
The cloud component of the NOA platform providing storage, analytics and fleet management.
Options Menu
The gear icon in the Header used to switch to different areas of NOA Portal.
Parent Tenant
Tenants on higher hierarchy levels relative to another Tenant.
Service
A user-created software component containing Docker Images, deployable on Devices.
Subtenant
Tenants on lower hierarchy levels relative to another Tenant.
Tenant
A dedicated area inside NOA Portal accessible only to your company.
Tenant Tags
Tags used to categorize your Tenant.
User
Users have limited access and navigate NOA Portal using Hub Tiles.
User Menu
Located in the Header, allowing access to profile settings and legal documents.
